Inspection Report conducted under Mission Clean Sky
Gangtok, September 08: The 5th review meeting and inspection on overhanging cables and unused poles under Mission Clean Sky was carried out at MG Marg, Gangtok, today.
The inspection was carried out by the Joint Director (DDMA), Assistant Collector, District Administrative Centre, Gangtok, Training Officer (DDMA), Sr Bazar Officer, officers from the GMC and team, Assistant Engineer Power Department and team, Assistant Engineer PHE and team, Assistant Engineer Smart City UDD and team, AGM BSNL and representatives from various ISPs.
The team reviewed the progress made since the previous inspections. BSNL has removed most of the unused poles, however, as per directions issued earlier, no ISP has yet presented the required sample cable boxes.
The following directions were given in the inspection:
1. Wire coils will no longer be allowed in the poles and all ISPs must mandatorily use proper cable boxes. Sample boxes to be presented on 15th September by all the ISPs for placing the wire coils.
2. Completion of restoration works at Goshkhan, Smart Bazar and Namnag.
3. Clearance of unused wire at Tharo line and entry of Lall Bazar area by all the ISPs on 11th September 2025
4. Hathway to remove unused wire at MG Mar near Red Panda statue,
5. JIO to present a plan for relocation/removal of its overhanging main line at MG Marg near Red Panda Statue.
6. Clearance of all unused wires on the main road from Highway to Denzong Cinema.
The District Administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the success of Mission Clean Sky and directed all stakeholders to comply with the timelines.
