Distribution Programme under MIDH Scheme Held at Rhenock Horticulture Block Office.
Pakyong, September 5:
The Horticulture Block Office, Rhenock, conducted an effective distribution programme today under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme. This initiative was aimed at providing essential horticultural inputs to local farmers and beneficiaries, promoting sustainable development in horticulture and floriculture throughout the region.
The event was graced by the distinguished presence of Panchayat Presidents and Vice Presidents from the four Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs)—Rhenock, Tarpin, Sudunglakha, and Aritar. Eminent dignitaries included Shri SK Dungana, Block Development Officer (BDO) of Rhenock; Smt Nirmala Kalikhoti, Panchayat President of Rhenock; Shri Sachit Subba, Panchayat President of Sudunglakha; Smt Uma Chettri, Panchayat President of Tarpin; and Shri Kincho Tshering Bhutia, Vice President of Aritar Panchayat.
The programme was efficiently managed by Smt Keshori Devi Sharma, Horticulture Development Officer (HDO) of Rhenock. She provided detailed insights into the MIDH scheme and informed participating farmers and field functionaries about the latest directive from the Additional Director’s office. Going forward, farmers need to submit applications along with mandatory documents at the circle or block office for online farmer registration in the MIDH SURAKSHA PORTAL to avail of facilities under the scheme. The required documents include Aadhar card, PAN card, land documents, Khasra/Khatoni details, photo of the applicant, bank details including cheque, and signature.
During the programme, essential agricultural inputs were distributed to beneficiaries, including protective materials such as agro shed nets, UV films, anti-hail nets, and mulching sheets; horticultural tools including secateurs, slicers, peelers, and pulverizers; spray machines; bio-fungicides, bio-insecticides, and bio-pesticides; as well as weed mats, various vegetable seeds, and organic manure.
These inputs are intended to empower farmers with modern, sustainable tools to improve productivity while adhering to organic farming principles, in line with Sikkim’s vision as India’s first organic state.
Shri SK Dungana, BDO Rhenock, addressed the farmers, emphasising the critical role of agriculture in community livelihoods and encouraging the adoption of advanced horticultural techniques.
Smt Nirmala Kalikhoti praised government efforts to support grassroots farming initiatives, while Smt Keshori Devi Sharma elaborated on the MIDH scheme’s objectives and underscored the importance of efficient coordination between farmers and the Horticulture Department.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from progressive farmers across all four Gram Panchayat Units, demonstrating a strong collective commitment to sustainable agricultural development.
This distribution under the MIDH scheme highlights the government’s dedication to empowering the farming community through quality inputs, enhancing organic horticulture productivity, and furthering Sikkim’s mission of eco-friendly agricultural advancement.
