A total of 363 participants from Melli and adjoining areas attended the Mega Camp on Financial Inclusion held at Melli, under Namchi district, on 3rd September 2025.
As part of the three-month Saturation Campaign on Financial Inclusion, the State Bank of India (SBI), in its capacity as the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) for Sikkim, organized the Mega Camp. The campaign was launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India (GoI), on July 1, 2025.
The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Area MLA, Shri Nar Bahadur Pradhan, as the Chief Guest, and was attended by Shri T. Jamang, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Gangtok; Shri Surinder Kumar, Under Secretary, DFS, GoI; Shri Teekam Singh Gehlot, General Manager, SBI; Shri Prashant Kumar Singh, Deputy General Manager, SBI; and Shri Mahendra Pradhan, Director (Finance).
The Mega Camp aimed to promote and enrol citizens under various social security and financial inclusion schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), as well as facilitate Re-KYC of PMJDY and regular bank accounts.
Through this initiative, individuals were provided with essential knowledge and skills to manage their finances effectively. Senior officials from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Government of Sikkim, SLBC, and various banks attended the programme, extended support, and facilitated enrolments.
Similarly, a Mega Camp was held at Ranka on 4th September 2025.
