Gangtok, September 01, 2025:
The Labour Department Secretary Shri Bhim Thatal today visited all the state border checkposts of Labour Department at Melli (Namchi district), Rammam (Soreng district) Rangpo and Reshi (Pakyong district). During his visit, he interacted with the police personnel and different personnel of other Departments like Transport Department, SNT Division, Commercial Taxes, and Labour Officers & Inspectors operating at these checkposts.

After discussing with the District Administration and Police Authority of Soreng District, Secretary Bhim Thatal has initiated for establishment of a regular checkpost of Labour Department at Rammam.
While discussing with the ALCs and DLCs at Melli, Rammam, Rangpo and Reshi (Rhenock) Checkposts, Secretary has given instructions regarding issuance of Labour Cards to workers/labours to take stern measures like proper verification of address proof, name, EPIC (Electoral Photo ID Card) Aadhar Card and other documents and proper affixing of photographs. It has also been instructed that daily reports of registration of labours/workers in these checkposts must be forwarded to the district offices and state Headquarters unfailingly.
The Secretary has also discussed about installing computers and instant photo facilities soon so that registration process becomes easier for the applicants. He has instructed for proper maintenance of records of all persons entering Sikkim in search of employment as labours/workers.
The Secretary was accompanied by Shri KR Limbu, Labour Commissioner and Assistant Labour Commissioners from the Headquarters while the district DLCs and ALCs joined their respective checkposts.
