Namchi, 29 August: The newly built four-roomed school building at Sripatam Junior High School was formally inaugurated today, marking a key addition to the institution’s educational infrastructure. The event was graced by Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker cum Area MLA, who attended as Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the building.
The programme was attended by distinguished dignitaries including Shri Bikash Basnet, Political Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister; Shri C.L. Gurung, Advisor, Department of Food Processing; OSD to Agriculture Shri S.B. Rai; SDM Yangang; BDO Yangang; CLC President Shri Tengyala Namka; CEO Education Department Namchi Shri Suraj Rai; Joint Director, Education Department; AEO Education Department; Zilla Panchayat Member Smt. Prem Doma Tamang; Panchayat President and Members; social worker Shri Deepak Bhattrai; Youth Convenor Shri Anil Gurung; Deputy Director, Horticulture and Agriculture Department; School Contractor Shri Mohan Kishor Subba; SKM Party members; along with the School Management Committee, teachers, students, and local stakeholders.
In her address, the Chief Guest thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), for his continued commitment to strengthening the education sector in Sikkim. She noted that the new school building would provide students with an improved learning environment and contribute to the overall growth of the community.
The four-roomed school building, sanctioned in 2022 and completed in 2025, is expected to significantly benefit both students and teachers. On behalf of the school fraternity, gratitude was extended to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for prioritising educational infrastructure across the state.
Honourable Chief Guest also acknowledged the contributions of the School Management Committee, teachers, and local community in making the project a success.
The event featured cultural performances by students, an organic sale and buyer’s meet, felicitation of dignitaries, and presentations.
