National Sports Day, 2025
On the occasion of National Sports Day, we pay tribute to the legendary hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand and reaffirm our commitment to nurturing sports and athletes across the nation. This day is not only a celebration of sporting excellence but also an inspiration to the youth of Sikkim to embrace discipline, teamwork, and perseverance through sports.
Sikkim has steadily emerged as a promising hub of sports in the North-East region. Our athletes have made the state proud by excelling in disciplines such as football, boxing, archery, taekwondo, athletics, swimming, karate, table tennis basketball, chess, cycling, pencak silat, kick boxing and other sports. Their achievements at national and international platforms stand as a testimony to the talent and determination that Sikkim nurtures.
We take this moment to sincerely appreciate the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim for his vision and commitment towards strengthening the sports ecosystem in the state. Through proactive policies, infrastructural development, incentives for athletes, and encouragement for Olympic disciplines, the Government has created a supportive environment for sports to thrive. Investments in stadiums, training centers, grassroots programs, and youth engagement initiatives have opened new avenues for aspiring sportspersons.
As we celebrate National Sports Day, let us renew our pledge to uphold the values of sportsmanship, fair play, and dedication. With continued support from the Government and the collective efforts of athletes, coaches, associations, and citizens, Sikkim will undoubtedly continue to shine brightly in the field of sports.
Sports are not just about winning medals, they are about shaping character, building resilience, and inspiring generations. To every young athlete of Sikkim—dream big, train hard, and never give up. Your journey on the field can become the pride of the state and the nation. Together, let us play with passion, chase excellence, and create a legacy of sportsmanship for future generations.
