Gangtok, August 26, 2025: The Hon’ble Minister, Urban Development Department, Government of Sikkim, Shri Bhoj Raj Rai, participated virtually in the meeting convened by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, on 26th August 2025.
The meeting, chaired by Hon’ble Minister, MOHUA, Government of India, Shri Manohar Lal, was also attended by Hon’ble Minister of State, MoHUA, Shri Tokhan Sahu, and representatives from all States and Union Territories. Shri Jitendra Singh Raje, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Urban Development Department and Smt. Yogeeta Rai, Secretary, Urban Development Department also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, deliberations were held on strengthening ongoing efforts towards sustainable urban sanitation and ensuring active participation of all States/UTs in upcoming national-level cleanliness drives.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Bhoj Raj Rai informed the Ministry about the various initiatives of the State Government to manage the ever-growing menace of solid waste in the State. He reiterated the commitment of the State Government towards health and sanitation of its citizens.
He further assured that the Urban Development Department, Government of Sikkim, remains steadfast in working towards innovative and inclusive solutions for urban sanitation, solid waste management, and sustainable development in line with the objectives of SBM-U.
