Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa, Hon’ble Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly accompanied by Secretary, Principal Director and PS to Hon’ble Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly attended the 2nd day of All India Speakers’ Conference at Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
The deliberation on the topic “India-Mother of Democracy” continued to its concluding part.
Smt. Meira Kumar, former Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha, delivered the keynote address on the topic ‘Vithalbhai Patel: Role in Shaping India’s Constitution and Legislative Institutions’, which was attended by the Presiding Officers of all State Legislative Assemblies and Union Territories.
The two-day programme of the All India Speakers’ Conference, commemorating the centenary year of the first elected Speaker, Shri Vithalbhai Patel, concluded with valedictory remarks by Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Hon’ble Union Minister for Communications, Government of India, and Shri Om Birla, Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh, Hon’ble Minister for Legislative Affairs, Government of Delhi.
The delegates also visited Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial followed by dinner hosted by Lieutenant Governor, at Raj Niwas, Delhi.
