Namchi, 22 August:
Today, I had the honour of attending the National Librarians’ Day program at Chintan Bhawan, commemorating the 133rd Birth Anniversary of Padmashree Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the father of Library Science in India.
The event was graced by Special Guest Prof. Avinash Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Kanchenjunga State University and thoughtfully organised by Sikkim Akademi in collaboration with Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College, Tadong. The program was further enriched by the insightful deliberations of resource persons Dr. Manoj Rana, Dr. Yodita Bhutia and Dr. Sujit Kujur.
It was inspiring to witness the enthusiastic participation of students from various colleges, reflecting the continued relevance of libraries in shaping knowledge and values for the younger generation.
Congratulations to Sikkim Akademi and NBBGC, Tadong for organising such an impactful and meaningful program for the students. On this occasion, let us all reaffirm our commitment towards promoting the culture of reading, research and lifelong learning.
