Namchi, 22 August:
Following the joint inspection conducted on 07/07/2025 at Ravangla, Namchi District by District Civil Supplies Officer Namchi Mr Tenzing Bhutia, accompanied by SDM Ravangla Mr Wangyal Sherpa, Food Safety Officer Dr Shilpa Sunwar (Mukhia), AD UDD Ravangla Ms Alisha Basnet, Officer Incharge (Excise) Ravangla Mr Sonam Wangyal Bhutia, ASI Ravangla (Police) Mr Dik Bahadur Pradhan and Mr Gaudhan Rai, Food Inspector Namchi Ms Neema Tamang along with Panchayat members, Bazar Committee members, and field staff from the relevant departments.
Compounding cases were registered by the Food Safety Officer, Dr. Shilpa Sunwar (Mukhia) for violation of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 for selling expired food items, and running the business in unhygienic and unsanitary condition without valid license/registration against 05 Food Business Operators.
Chief Medical Officer, Namchi who is also the Designated Officer for the district, Dr. SN Adhikari under Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 passed an order against those 05 defaulters imposing them with a cumulative fine of Rs. 1,45,000/- (One lakh and forty five thousand) only according to their nature of offences.
