District Institute of Education & Training, Gangtok organize the 4th Teachers’ Investiture ceremony of Passing out D.El.Ed Class 2023-25
Gangtok, August 22:
With the objective to celebrate the accomplishments and success of the passing out students, DIET Gangtok, Centre of Excellence organized the 4th Teachers’ Investiture Ceremony of passing out D.El.Ed. Class of 2023-25.
The ceremony was graced by Sri Sonam Chopel Sherpa, Hon’ble Chairman, Students Welfare Board, Government of Sikkim as the Chief Guest. Dr. Dilip Pandey, Principal, SGLC and Dr. Shanti Ram Adhikari were present as the special guests. Mr. Rajiv Philip, Deputy Director, SCERT, School Heads and Representatives from 8 schools were also present. Mr. Chedup Tshering Bhutia, President, Alumni Association also attended the programme. The Head, Staff & Students of Upper Burtuk SS & Lower Burtuk JHS along with the Co-ordinator of Hariyo Makha Project were also in attendance. The parents/guardians of the outgoing students were also invited.
The welcome address with opening remarks was presented by Mr. Tshering Wangdi Bhutia, Principal. The Principal, in his address, highlighted the re-envisioned roles and responsibilities of DIET as a vibrant institute in the light of NEP 2020; an educational hub of innovation and research.
The Teacher Investiture Ceremony comprised of various events like Award of various Certificates to the passing out students, Taking of Teachers’ Pledge by the passing out students, Video Presentation of activities of DIET, Launching of Hariyo Makha Video, Cultural programmes, Sharing of thoughts by passing out students, Signing of Wall of Commitment, Flashback Video Presentation and Flagging Off of Indoor Plantation Drive. 46 nos. of D.El.Ed. student teachers received certificates, memento and souvenirs.
Presentation of Shrestha Shield was made to the Overall Winner House for the year 2024-25, Vivekananda (Yellow) House and cash awards were presented to the three top ranking students, Ms. Phuplam Bhutia, Ms. Sristy Rai and Ms. Yangkee Doma Bhutia. The Shrestha Shield and cash award to the toppers were made in the name of Lt. Shri Chabilal Shrestha and Smt. Tika Shrestha, parents of Ms. Durga Shrestha, Senior Lecturer. The main objective of giving these awards was to inculcate love, affection, and gratitude towards parents and also to practice philanthropy with an aim of giving back to the society and to motivate the trainees to practice the same.
Mr. Chedup Tshering Bhutia, President, Alumni Association of DIET, Gangtok spoke about his experience as a student teacher at the institute and motivated the outgoing batch to understand their students first and to be well equipped to face challenges in their future.
Joint Director SCERT, in his address, motivated the students to always have a learning attitude in life and update themselves to prepare themselves to be good teachers.
Hon’ble Chairman, in his address, encouraged the out-going students to always move forward in life and that he was always there to address any challenges faced by the students in his capacity as Chairperson of Students’ Welfare Board. He stressed upon the importance of having a social outlook and contributing to society in various ways.
The Master of Ceremony was Ms. Karma Doma Kaleon, Sr. Lecturer and Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Yangzom Lachungpa.
