Governor hoisted the flag on Independence Day, awarded the amount of ₹51,000 to Government Higher Secondary School, West Point as incentive
A dignified ceremony was organized at Rajbhavan campus today on the occasion of 79th anniversary of Independence Day. On this historic day Honorable Governor of Sikkim Mr. Om Prakash Mathur ji expressed his respect and respect towards the nation by hoisting the national flag.
In this link, the Governor paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's statue located in the Rajbhavan premises.
In his address, the Governor invited everyone to participate in nation building. He said freedom is not just a right, it is a responsibility we have to carry on with our actions, thoughts and service.
The brass band presented by the students of Government Higher Secondary School West Point, who delivered a melodious rendition of national tunes. This school band has remained national champion twice consecutive since 2023 and has increased the state pride by giving its presentation at Vijay Chowk, New Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day. This talented band has received an invitation from Liverpool, United Kingdom for an international performance in June 2026, honoring Sikkim's cultural talent on the global stage.
Appreciating the presentation of the school band, the Governor has been awarded the amount of ₹51,000 as incentive.
At the end of the ceremony, the Governor shared the sweetness of this national festival by distributing sweets to the members of the Rajbhavan family.
On this occasion, officers, employees and his family along with Mr. Jitendra Singh Raje, Commissioner of Governor were present.
