Intensified IEC Campaign by Sikkim State AIDS Control Society ( 12th August -12th October 2025)
Under the direction of National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) ,a nationwide Intensified IEC Campaign will be launched on 12th August 2025 marked as International Youth Day and will be carried out till 12th October 2025 after witnessing successful IEC Campaigns in 2024 .
India, being the second highest country in the world to have People Living with HIV/AIDS . Approximately,as of 2023 India has 25.44 lakhs HIV positive people.
The Intensified IEC Campaign focuses on key objectives as under:
1. To promote awareness on routes of HIV transmission and Prevention
2. To promote literacy on " HIV/AIDS ( Prevention and Control) Act 2017 to address stigma and discrimination towards infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
3. To promote awareness on HIV and Syphilis among Pregnant women/ ANC Attendees.
4. To create demand for services such as HIV testing, Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) services,Condoms and to promote other services provided by National AIDS Control Organisation ( NACO) including National AIDS Toll Free number 1097.
Sikkim State AIDS Control Society will be launching the Intensified IEC Campaign in a grand manner to meet the objectives planned by NACO . The programs include:
1. Bike rally by Physiotherapist Association
2. Mid media programs will be aired on All India Radio
3. Folk troupe/ flash mob performances in and around the state .
4. Door to door campaign by ASHA's in West District and Soreng
5. Inter-college quiz competition in collaboration with Sikkim Chronicle etc
All districts are observing the International Youth Day accordingly to promote awareness on HIV/AIDS and other related issues and informations. We hereby request everyone to kindly support the initiative.
