Gangtok, July 28, 2025: The 1st Sikkim Sub Junior & Junior State Ranking Badminton Championship – 2025 concluded today on a high note, marking a major milestone in the growth of grassroots badminton in the state.
Organized by Young Shuttlers of Sikkim, Gangtok under the aegis of the Badminton Association of Sikkim (BAS), the championship was held from 26th to 28th July 2025 and witnessed overwhelming participation from across the state.
More than 200 young athletes from all six districts of Sikkim took part in the tournament, competing across various age categories from Under-11 to Under-19 for both boys and girls. The event not only showcased the growing talent pool in Sikkim but also provided a competitive platform for young shuttlers to gain experience and ranking points.
The grand finale was graced by Mrs & Mr. Nakul Gurung , parents of Late Kuldeep Gurung, as the Chief Guests. They were joined by Hon'ble Shri. Jacob Khaling, President of the Badminton Association of Sikkim and other Executive Members of BAS.
BAS extends heartfelt congratulations to all the participants, coaches, parents, and volunteers who made the championship a success, and a special note of appreciation to the organizing team at Young Shuttlers of Sikkim for their dedication and flawless execution.
This championship marks a significant step in BAS’s mission to promote and develop badminton at the grassroots level and to prepare a strong pool of young talent for future state and national representation.
