Gangtok, July 27, 2025: The second day and 2nd half bouts of the 19th Sub-Junior & 20th Junior Sikkim State Boxing Championship 2025 concluded on a high note at the Reshithang Sports Complex, with electrifying bouts and enthusiastic participation from budding boxers across all districts.
Organized by the Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association (SABA), the three-day championship, which began on July 26, continues to serve as a platform for identifying the state’s emerging boxing talent.
A special opening ceremony for the second half of Day 2 was graced by Mrs. Sharda Tamang Golay, spouse of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), as the chief guest. She was joined by dignitaries including Yanchen Doma Tamang, Secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs; Pravaker Golay Tamang, Chief Coordinator of Jun Prokosta Kalyan; Tshering Palden Bhutia, Deputy Mayor of GMC; Rinzing W. Bhutia, Chairperson of the State Sports Development Board; and other senior officials.
SABA President and Arjuna Awardee Jas Lal Pradhan, alongside Dronacharya Awardee Sandhya Gurung, warmly welcomed the guests and applauded the continued support from the state government toward youth development through sports.
In her address, Mrs. Sharda Tamang Golay encouraged young boxers to remain disciplined and focused, expressing pride in Sikkim’s growing presence in national and international boxing circles. “Sikkim’s youth have the talent and potential to make a mark far beyond our borders.
The afternoon saw six high-intensity bouts in the Sub-Junior Boys’ category, showcasing strong performances and competitive spirit. The cheering crowd added to the charged atmosphere, reflecting boxing’s increasing popularity among the youth.

Medals and certificates were handed out by the chief guest and dignitaries present, as proud parents and coaches applauded from the stands.
