19th Sub-Junior & 20th Junior Sikkim State Boxing Championship 2025: Day 2 Highlights
Gangtok, July 27, 2025: The 19th Sub-Junior and 20th Junior Boys’ and Girls’ Sikkim State Boxing Championship 2025, organized by the Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association (SABA), continued into its second day with great energy and enthusiasm at the Reshithang Sports Complex, Gangtok. The three-day championship, being held from July 26 to 28, has drawn participation from all districts across the state's
Day 2 of the championship featured a special opening ceremony attended by several dignitaries. Chief guest for the day was Yancgchen Doma Tamang, Secretary of the Sports and Youth Affairs (SYA) Department. She was accompanied by:
Chewang Zangpo Bhutia, Vice President of the Sikkim Olympic Association (Guest of Honour)K.T. Lepcha, Deputy Director, SYA,Pragyan Basnett, representative of HPM, KISCE,Sonam P. Lepcha, Joint Director, SYA,Dronacharya Awardee Sandhya Gurung and Arjuna Awardee Jas lal Pradhan, various former boxing officials and elected representatives and all the dignitaries present.
Arjuna Awardee Jas Lal Pradhan, President of SABA, delivered the welcome address, expressing deep appreciation to Secretary Yanchen Doma Tamang for her unwavering support in promoting boxing and youth sports development in the state.
In her speech, Secretary Yanchen Doma Tamang encouraged the young boxers to remain dedicated and disciplined. She acknowledged the tireless efforts of SABA President Jas Lal Pradhan and all executive members, along with the District Boxing Associations, for organizing this significant sporting event.
A proud moment for the Sikkim boxing fraternity came with the recognition of Yashika Rai, a national-level silver medalist and international boxer from the Namchi District Boxing Association. Her achievements were highlighted as a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes across the state.
Exciting Bouts and Medal Distribution-
Day 2 also witnessed thrilling bouts in the sub-junior boys’ category, including six competitive matches in the first half of the day. The energy in the arena reflected the growing popularity of boxing among the youth.
Medals and certificates were distributed by Secretary Yanchen Doma Tamang and SABA President Jas Lal Pradhan.

The program concluded with Secretary Yanchen Doma Tamang extending her heartfelt congratulations to all the young boxers representing their districts in the 19th Sub-Junior and 20th Junior Sikkim State Boxing Championship 2025.
