Shillong, Meghalaya, July 26: Sikkimese representatives participated in the Joint Meeting on July 25, 2025 in Shillong concerning the forthcoming 39th National Games 2027, which are scheduled to take place in Meghalaya’s capital.
Representing the Department of SYA, Dr. R B Biswakarma, Additional Director, along with Shri Mahindra Dhakal, former National Grand Master and Joint Secretary of the Sikkim Olympic Association, were present at the meeting. The primary focus of the meeting was to deliberate on the key Olympic Sports Disciplines that will be hosted in each North Eastern State.
In light of the available sports infrastructure and the performance of Sikkimese athletes in national competitions, discussions were held regarding the potential inclusion of various sports disciplines, with a request for favorable consideration to participate in the upcoming National Games 2027.
As a gesture of goodwill from Sikkim, Khadas, floral bouquets, and Golden Jubilee T-shirts were presented to the Honourable Sports Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Kento Jini, as well as to Shri Shakliar Warjri, the Honourable Sports Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, and Dr. Vijay Kumar, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs.
Dr. R. B. Biswakarma expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister, Shri Raju Basnet; Ms. Yangcheng D. Tamang, SCS, Secretary, SYA; and Shri Kuber Bhandari, President of the Sikkim Olympic Association, for their kind blessings and for entrusting him with the responsibility.
