A joint inspection was conducted today in cherry pepper/tomato growing clusters of Assangthang, Namchi district, on 22 July.
Team from headquarter Shri Bhim Dahal sir (Mission Director cum Principal Director), Shri Dikendra Bhujel sir Additional Director (Vegetables)cum District incharge Namchi, Shri Rinzing Bhutia sir Additional Director (Spices),Shri NK Chettri (Deputy Director),Namchi District along with respected Scientists from ICAR Gangtok, SMS from KVK, officials from IPM Gangtok, field officials of Namchi district Smt Kalpana Shrestha (HDO), Khusnarayan Rai(VLW)and Temi block -Shri Badri Pradhan(HDO) were present.
It was indeed a very fruitful visit to the affected areas of cherry pepper. Upon field visit, scientists and officials interacted with farmers and provided various prophylactic measures to combat various diseases that were present in the farmer’s field.
Conclusion: Soil treatment, seed treatment, and seedling treatment with Trichoderma prior plantation would play a vital step to effectively prevent various fungal diseases in cherry pepper as well as other crops.
Farmers were highly grateful and really appreciated the time and effort shown by the department overall.
