TNA, TNSSS Champions of Gangtok District in 64th Pre-Subroto Cup International Football Tournament, 2025
Gangtok, July 13:
The finals of 64th Pre-Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2025 for Gangtok District (U-15 & U-17 Boys) took place at here Paljor Stadium, Gangtok on July 12, 2025 highlighting exceptional football talents from these categories.
The sporting event was graced by Dr. R.B. Biswakarma, Additional Director, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Sonam Palzor Lepcha, Joint Director (SYA), Norbu Tshering Bhutia, Deputy Director, SYA, and Sandhya Gurung, Dronacharya Awardee and Chief Coach (Boxing) as the Special Guests.
In the U - 15 boys’ category, Tashi Namgyal Academy (TNA) exhibited a commanding performance initiating the scoring with an impressive header. TNA swiftly increased their advantage before an own goal by Prashanti Vidya Mandir Secondary School brought the score to 3-0 at halftime. During the second half, TNA netted four additional goals, concluding the match with a decisive 7-0 victory. TNA has now been crowned the Gangtok District Champions and will represent the district at the State-Level Pre Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament.
In a similar vein, the U -17 category saw Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School (TNSSS) opening the scoring with a penalty, quickly building momentum and finishing the first half with a 5-0 lead. The second half showcased further dominance, culminating in a significant 13-0 victory for TNSSS against Modern Senior Secondary School. With this triumph, TNSSS will also represent Gangtok District at the State-Level Pre Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament.
The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs extends its congratulations to all participating teams for their enthusiastic involvement and wishes the winners the best of luck in the upcoming state-level tournament.
