The Secretary of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Ms. Yangchen Doma Tamang (SCS), along with Dr. R B Biswakarma, Additional Director of SYA, participated in the National Workshop focused on the preparation for the 5th National Conference of Chief Secretaries.
The workshop themed 'Human Capital for Viksit Bharat - Sports and Extracurricular Activities: Beyond Classroom', took place on July 9, 2025, at Major Dhyanchand Stadium in New Delhi.
Co-chaired by the Secretary of Youth Affairs and the Secretary of Sports from the Government of India, the workshop also had the presence of members from NITI Aayog and representatives from various states.
During the workshop, discussions revolved around the department's best practices concerning four key components of the sub-theme 'Extracurricular: Beyond Classrooms', which included Modernizing Infrastructure, Promoting FIT India, Volunteerism for Nation Building, and Unlocking Talent for International Engagement.
On behalf of the Sikkim Government, the department presented significant achievements in the realm of Sports, attributed to the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang.
Furthermore, the department will relay the constructive feedback gathered from the IAS, SCS, and departmental officers from the states to the Ministry, following the format provided by the Ministry, and the feedback notes from the discussions will be scanned and made available on the NITI Aayog website.
