Namchi, 10 July:
The Co-operation Department, Namchi District on 9.07.2025 organised a mass Plantation Drive to celebrate the 50th year of statehood and International Year of Co-operatives.
The plantation drive was conducted with the theme, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ in all the 56 GPU MPCS ltd. @ minimum 30 seedlings, totaling more than 1680 seedling. Besides the District office, Co-operation Department Namchi planted flowering plants numbering more than 100 Seedling along Namchi Melli Highway. The Ravangla Sub – divisional office also planted more than 100 saplings of Egelia flowers around the Ravangla Sub divisional office.
Further, Karek Kabrey MPCS Ltd. and Kateng Phamphok MPCS Ltd. in process of developing fodder seed bank as decided during the DCDC meeting for milking cows planted around 75000 seedlings of Guinea Grass, Congo Signal, Hamel grass, Hybrid Napier provided by Mother Diary Farm, Jorethang in co-ordination with Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producer Union Ltd, Jorethang.
In this regards the Co-operation Department, Namchi District heartily extend thanks to Forest Department, Namchi District for providing more than 1900 seedlings for the plantation, Sikkim Milk Union and Mother Dairy Farm for providing fodder seedling. The Department also thanks to the members of all the MPCS ltd. including field CIs/ACs/PAs for providing support for this Noble Cause to our Mother Earth.
