Namchi, 9th July,2025:
A training cum distribution of cardamom seedlings was organised by Dept of Horticulture, Namchi District in convergence with MGNREGA and the self department programme under the scheme MIDH, Yr 2025-2026 at Bul,Singtam, Saleybong in Namchi Singhithang constituency in the presence of Hon’ble MLA Mr Satish Chandra Rai (Namchi Singhithang constituency) as a chief guest, V.P ( Incharge, Nari Shakti cum Advisor) Madam Rama Tamang, CLC President Mr Tashi Dorjee Tamang as guests along with department officials Additional Director Mr Dikendra Bhujel, DDH Purnima Theengh, Prakash Tiwari , H.I and field staffs, on 8th July.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble MLA Mr Satish Chandra Rai emphasised the government’s commitment to strengthening the farming community for a sustainble farming system adopting improved technologies with advanced farm mechanization tools, organic farming contributing to the growth economy of the state alongside improvement in the lifestyle of farmers.
Additional Director Mr Dikendra Bhujel highlighted about cardamom being the traditional crop of Sikkim and one of the important cash crop grown in our Himalayan state of Sikkim. He also explained the diseases affecting large cardamom and their management strategies adopted by the department thus increasing the productivity.
The farmers received good healthy disease free cardamom seedlings. Hence the programme was concluded with the distribution of powertiller , grinding machine, vegetable cutter making them well euipped with the modern tools and self reliant improving the livelihoods of farming community of Sikkim.
