Soreng, July 8: A waste collection drive was conducted today at 04 Sangadorjee Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU), which has its own Plastic Waste Management Unit (PWMU).
To ensure the systematic functioning of the PWMU, the Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) has prepared a structured activity calendar, which is currently being actively followed.
As per the schedule, today marked the waste collection day across the GPU. The drive was successfully carried out with the participation from Gram Panchayat Members, AD (PRI), Junior VAA, PDA, PAA and other staff.
A significant highlight of the drive was the presence and active participation of DPO (Zilla) Mr Kumar Subba.
While addressing the gathering, DPO (Zilla) shared his valuable guidance on strengthening the functioning of the PWMU. He emphasised the importance of collaboration in building a cleaner environment and assured the full support and assistance to make the initiative a success.
Following the collection drive, waste segregation will be carried out by the GPK staff. In the coming days, the same practices will be extended to schools, Self Help Groups (SHGs), and other key stakeholders, fostering community-wide participation in effective waste management.
The primary aim of the drive was to spread awareness and foster a more responsible community
