An Awareness cum Training Programme on the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PM-FBY) was successfully conducted today at Sripatam Gagyong GPU, marking the culmination of the Crop Insurance Week, observed nationwide from 1st to 7th July 2025.
The event was attended by Hon’ble Panchayat President, Mr. D.R. Gurung,Hon’ble Ward Panchayats of the GPU, ADO, Ms. Florenz Bhutia, AI, Ms. Tshering Yangchen Bhutia, Resource person from Future Generali Insurance Company,Mr. Suchan Darjee. Also in attendance were the FPO President, CSC staff, Krishi Sevika, and staff from Agriculture Department.
Ms. Florenz Bhutia delivered a brief overview of the PMFBY scheme, emphasizing the importance of timely enrolment and the various benefits it offers to the farming community. She also highlighted the role of FPOs in empowering farmers and elaborated on the advantages of the soybean variety NRC-147, distributed under the NMEO-OS scheme.
Mr. Suchan Darjee provided further insights into the procedural aspects of the scheme, ensuring farmers understood the necessary steps for participation.
FPO President encouraged greater farmer participation in agricultural initiatives and stressed the importance of the Organic Farming Mission.
Panchayat President Mr. D.R. Gurung concluded the programme, appreciating the department’s efforts to uplift the farming community.
The programme also saw the active enrolment of farmers under the scheme and the distribution of soybean seeds to beneficiaries.
