Training cum Distribution of Large Cardamom under MIDH organised by horticulture in convergence with MGNREGA and MIDH alone.
Namchi, 6 July :
Two training cum distribution programme under MIDH in convergence with MGNGREGA and MIDH alone was conducted by horticulture department under Namchi District at Ravangla subdivision in the presence of honourable area MLA shri Riksel Dorjee Bhutia, ADC Dev, BDO, DDH Ravangla, HDO, Vlw and field assistants of horticulture department along wth ward panchayats, Panchayat presidents,, and all the beneficiaries of the Ralong Namlung Gpu, and Kewzing Bakhim, respectively of Ravangla subdivision on 5th July.
The program included demonstration on plantation of large cardamom in the field, it’s spacing, proper planting techniques, timely application of manures, irrigation of field during winter season to avoid stress to the plant during dry season.
Dy. Director Horticulture also highlighted the importance of pest and disease management, specifically the importance of preventive measures for disease and pest management in organic farming, and all the support that has been provided by the horticulture department related to crop damage to the farmers of Sikkim.
She also mentioned that department has recently started the provision of application of organic pesticides through drone in the farmers field through trained personals of the department. The programme was successfully concluded with a speech from honourable MLA sir and interactive session with the farmers.
