Friday Field/Farm Day – Mission: Revival of Barren Land for Cultivation
Pakyong, July 05:
The 43rd episode of Friday Field/Farm Day was successfully conducted by the Office of the Additional District Collector (Dev), Pakyong District, in collaboration with Connect Earth Sweat Contribution Center, Samsing Pakyong. The ongoing mission focuses on reviving barren land for cultivation, with active participation from local stakeholders.
Maize farming practices have been adopted across villages in the district, leading to a visible reduction in monkey-related issues in farmlands. The committed involvement of employees from Rhenock and Pakyong Blocks further bolstered the mission’s momentum.
Supporting the next phase of land use, Parijat Pragati Sangh, Samsing Pakyong, has joined hands for the preparation of plots dedicated to cardamom and turmeric cultivation.
The effort acknowledges the collaboration of farmers, government personnel, youth, and the wider community who are driving this agricultural transformation. The mission reinforces Sikkim’s growing reputation in organic and sustainable farming, with its long-term vision set on empowering future generations with environmentally conscious practices.
The efforts align with the district’s goal of reinforcing Sikkim’s place in sustainable and organic agricultural practices. The initiative continues to work with the aim of guiding future generations toward environmentally conscious farming and sustainable living.
