An exit meeting was held today in the Chamber of District Magistrate, Gangtok, where Hon’ble Lok Sabha MP from Sikkim, Dr. Indra Hang Subba, had a fruitful discussion with visiting team from National Institute of labour Economics Research and Development who had visited Sikkim to understand and evaluate the impact of DISHA commitee meeting in the implementation of various Centrally Sponsored scheme.The meeting was attended by officials from the District Administration, Gangtok, ADM GTK, ADC Dev ADC HQ and SDM Gangtok.
The agenda centered on evaluating the effectiveness of the DISHA framework in overseeing the implementation of centrally Sponsored schemes in Sikkim.
The discussions provided valuable insights into the strengths and challenges of the DISHA monitoring mechanism, with a focus on identifying areas for improvement to enhance its impact.
The visiting DISHA monitoring committee team expressed their appreciation for the State’s commitment to effective monitoring and evaluation. They lauded the collaborative efforts of the State Administration and the active engagement of Hon’ble MP Dr. Indra Hang Subba in fostering transparency and accountability.
During the discussion, Hon’ble MP Dr. Indra Hang Subba emphasized the critical need for a Standing Committee for the Himalayan Region to address the region’s unique developmental and environmental challenges. He noted, “A dedicated Standing Committee would provide a platform to advocate for policies that ensure sustainable development while preserving the Himalayan ecosystem.” Dr. Subba’s insights underscored the importance of tailoring national policies to meet the specific needs of the region, with the DISHA framework playing a pivotal role in monitoring programmes.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to implementing the findings of the impact assessment study and enhancing the DISHA monitoring mechanism to ensure greater efficiency and transparency in development initiative.
