Day 3 of 9th Crop Insurance Week Observed in Kabi
Mangan, July 3:
As part of the ongoing 9th Crop Insurance Week celebration, the Agriculture Department, Mangan District, organized an awareness programme on the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) at Kabi Block.
The event began with a welcome address by Marketing Assistant, Mr. Tempa Rapden Bhutia. This was followed by a technical session on Soybean cultivation presented by Krishi Sevak Mr. Nima Dorjee Sherpa, highlighting its significance and best practices for cultivation. Marketing Assistant Miss Kinchok Lhamu Bhutia shared an update on the implementation status of PM-KISAN. A comprehensive overview of PMFBY was presented by Agriculture Development Officer (ADO) Kabi Miss Thendal Zangmu Lepcha, who explained premium rates, coverage details, and the scheme’s benefits. CSC Coordinator, Mr. Phurba Thinley Sherpa, guided farmers through the PMFBY enrollment process. FPO President, Mrs. Pema Doma Bhutia, spoke about the role of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and urged farmers to make full use of PMFBY.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Marketing Assistant Mr. Tashi Tshering Bhutia and was efficiently moderated by Mr. Tshering Sherpa. The event witnessed active participation and positive engagement from local farmers, reinforcing the department’s commitment to improving awareness and implementation of crop insurance initiatives across the district.
The awareness campaign under Crop Insurance Week will continue across the district, aiming to inform and encourage more farmers to enroll under PMFBY.
