Awareness Programme on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) Held at Pakyong Block as Part of 9th Crop Insurance Week Celebrations
Pakyong, July 2:
As part of the nationwide celebration of the 9th Crop Insurance Week, an awareness programme on the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) was successfully conducted at Pakyong Block, aimed at educating farmers about the benefits and procedures of availing crop insurance.
The programme was coordinated by Shri Gagan Gurung, ADO (Agriculture Development Officer), and witnessed the active participation of local farmers, panchayat members, representative from CSC & future Generali Insurance company and representatives from the agriculture department & ATMA.
During the event, farmers were briefed on the objectives of PMFBY, including risk coverage, compensation for crop loss due to natural calamities, and the simple enrollment process. The awareness drive also emphasized the importance of timely registration and the key dates for the upcoming Kharif season.
In a proactive step towards enhancing farmer coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), the field functionaries of Pakyong Block successfully carried out on-the-spot online registration of farmers at the Chalamthang Pacheykhani Circle Office.
Farmers from nearby areas availed the opportunity to get registered instantly with the help of trained agriculture staff, who facilitated the online application process and provided necessary guidance on eligibility, required documents, premium payment, and claim procedures.
The initiative is part of the Government of India’s ongoing efforts to ensure that every farmer has access to affordable crop insurance and is protected against the vagaries of nature.
Such awareness programmes are crucial for increasing farmer participation in government schemes and ensuring sustainable agricultural development in the region.
