A Manthan Bhaitak of Cooperation Ministers of States and UTs was held on 30th June 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi chaired by Shri Amit Shah Hon’ble Minister of Home and Cooperation, Government of India.
Hon’ble Minister of State of Cooperation Shri Krishna Pal Gurjar and Hon’ble Minister of State of Civil Avaition and Cooperation Shri Muralidhar Mohol was also present.
The Hon’ble Minister of Cooperation Shri. Arun Kumar Upreti accompanied by Secretary Cooperation Department Smt. Gloria Namchu, Joint Registrar Shri Indramani Adhikari and Assistant Registrar Shri Tsewang Norbu Bhutia attended the event.
It was a platform to review progress, exchange views and chart the way forward to achieve the collective goals of strengthening of the cooperative sector.

Thereafter, presentation on best practices of 4 States leading in the cooperative sector was made.
All Hon’ble Ministers for Cooperation of States/ UTs spoke on the status of and issues related to the Cooperative sector in their respective States/ UTs.
Hon’ble Minister, RDD and Cooperation Shri. Arun Kumar Upreti apprised the house on the participation of Sikkim in the initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation, duly highlighting the achievements made by the State in the cooperative sector. He also applauded the efforts of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah for spearheading the strengthening of the cooperative sector in the country. Furthermore, he made special mention of the awards for best cooperative societies declared by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) to be conferred on Independence Day.
Our more than 200 activities for the celebration of International Year of Cooperatives 2025 was highlighted in his address. Sikkim is making all efforts to align with the vision of Vikshit Bharat 2047 in the cooperative sector, he added.
The Hon’ble Union Minister emphasised on the role and importance of cooperatives in socio- economic upliftment of the population of the country, for those who are economically disadvantaged.
He asked the Ministry to study and circulate the best practices to all the States for their adoption. He mentioned that all States could tie up with Tribhuvan Sahakari University and advised to conduct study of and visit Gujarat for learning about the successful Cooperation among Cooperatives model in that State.
He made special mention of Sikkim in the field of organic/ natural farming in which cooperatives can play a significant role.
He concluded that the National Conference by saying that the Manthan Baithak would act as a catalyst in highlighting the critical role of States and UTs in transforming cooperatives into vibrant economic entities.
