BAC Gyalshing holds Awareness and Benefit Saturation Camp under Dharti AABA Janbhagidari Abhiyan at 12/Nambu-Sindrabung GPU
Gyalshing,June 30:
As part of the ongoing Dharti AABA Janbhagidari Abhiyan, an Awareness and Benefit Saturation Camp was successfully organised at the 12/Nambu- Sindrabung Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) under Gyalshing Block,today.
The initiative was conducted under the aegis of the Block Development Office, Gyalshing, with the primary objective of facilitating inclusive rural development and ensuring the last-mile delivery of critical government schemes and services, particularly aimed at the welfare of tribal communities.
The programme was attended by the concerned Panchayat President, Panchayat Members, Block Development Officer (BDO) Mr Garap Dorjee Bhutia, Assistant Director (PRI), Assistant Director (DESME), Assistant Director (BAC,Gyalshing), along with officials from various line departments and the staff of 12-Nambu Sindrabung GPU.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Panchayat President Mr RB Limboo, who highlighted the significance of such outreach programmes in empowering local communities and ensuring their meaningful participation in governance. This was followed by an insightful briefing on the campaign’s objectives by AD (PRI) Mr Tshering Nedup Bhutia, who emphasised the need for focused delivery of government schemes to uplift vulnerable sections of society.
In his keynote address, the Block Development Officer underlined the importance of participatory governance and the role of decentralised efforts in addressing the developmental needs of remote tribal regions. He acknowledged the collective role of panchayat institutions and line departments in ensuring effective implementation of welfare programmes.
The camp witnessed the active participation of multiple departments and financial institutions, whose collaborative efforts enabled the smooth delivery of essential services to the community. These included:
• Department of DESME,Food and Civil Supplies Department,Health Department (Ayushman Bharat),Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Persons with Disabilities Welfare Department,Departments of Agriculture and Horticulture,BAC Gyalshing,IDBI Bank and HDFC Bank.
A total of 106 beneficiaries availed themselves of various services and schemes during the camp. The range of services extended included Aadhaar enrolment, Ayushman Bharat (Health Card), PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, PM Matru Vandana Yojana, ration card services, issuance of caste and domicile certificates, and MGNREGA job card registration, among others.

To further enhance community engagement, a selfie point was installed at the venue, drawing public interest and encouraging participation in the day's proceedings.
The programme concluded with the distribution of official documents and welfare entitlements, including MGNREGA Job Cards, Caste Certificates, and Golden Cards under the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) Scheme, thereby advancing the community’s access to healthcare and social security.
In addition to the benefit saturation activities, a Legal Awareness Programme was conducted by the District Court, Gyalshing on the topic “Legal Services to the Mentally Ill and Mentally Disabled Persons Scheme.” The session was focused on sensitising the community about the legal rights, available support systems, and institutional frameworks that safeguard and empower individuals with mental health conditions and disabilities. This component of the event significantly contributed to the legal inclusion and awareness among rural citizens, especially those belonging to marginalised sections.
This multi-departmental outreach programme marked a pivotal step toward the holistic development of the 12-Nambu Sindrabung GPU. It reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Sikkim and the Block Administration to strengthen welfare delivery, promote legal and financial literacy, and foster socio-economic inclusion at the grassroots level.
