Parliamentary Standing Committee Pays Courtesy Call on Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture paid a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, at Raj Bhavan today. The delegation was led by Rajya Sabha MP and Committee Chairman, Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha.
The delegation comprised Hon’ble Members of Parliament — Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Shri Surendra Nagar, Shri Vishweshwar Hegde, Shri Mohammad Abdullah, Shri K. E. Prakash, and Shri Neeraj Dangi. Also present was the Hon’ble Lok Sabha MP from Sikkim, Dr. Indra Hang Subba.
The meeting revolved around detailed discussions concerning the development of national highways in the region, with particular emphasis on the progress of the recently proposed National Highway-210, which is set to connect Melli to Singtam—an important step towards improving regional connectivity and economic growth.
Furthermore, the deliberations also addressed the need for strengthening tourism infrastructure in Sikkim, along with a focus on the ongoing initiatives dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the state’s rich local and traditional art, culture, and heritage.
The Hon’ble Governor extended a warm welcome to the delegation, wished them a pleasant and fruitful stay in Sikkim, and expressed confidence that their visit would significantly contribute to the state’s inclusive development, infrastructural advancement, and cultural enrichment.
