Sikkim Veterans Table Tennis Association honoured Smt Prem Jyoti Lama and Shri Uday Kumar Pradhan ji, veteran table tennis players of Sikkim.
Smt. Prem Jyoti Lama ji has been felicitated in recognition of her exceptional contributions and unwavering dedication in the field of sports over the years. Her passion for table tennis, which transcends age, has been genuinely motivating, and we applaud her for her outstanding sporting spirit and dedication.
After securing the first bronze medal at the 18th Veteran Table Tennis National Championship in Delhi in 2011, she subsequently earned bronze medals in the National Championships of 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2022, as well as at the South Asian Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Additionally, she claimed a silver medal at the 20th National Championship in Himachal Pradesh in 2014 and a gold medal at the 29th National Veteran Table Tennis Championship in Indore in 2019. Furthermore, she had represented the Indian Contingent as a player at the World Veteran Table Tennis Championships held in Auckland, New Zealand (2014), and Elche, Spain (2016).
Her unwavering dedication to the promotion and advancement of table tennis as a sport has made a significant impression within the sporting community in Sikkim.
Similarly, Shri Uday Pradhan ji has been grlicitated for his remarkable contributions and unwavering dedication to the realm of sports because of his passion for table tennis, which has been genuinely motivating, and we applaud him for his exemplary service.
Over the years, Shri Uday Pradhan ji's involvement in the All India Civil Service at Bhopal, MP, in 1999, as well as in the All India Civil Service at Mumbai, Chandigarh, New Delhi, Srinagar, and Indore, along with his participation in the Veteran National Table Tennis Tournament at various locations such as Mumbai, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Jallandher, New Delhi, Dharamshala, HP, Indore, and Ajmer as a player representing Sikkim, have significantly influenced Sikkimese sports.
Additionally, his contributions as the Sikkim State Team Manager during the All India Table Tennis Championships in places like Siliguri, Pondicherry, Kochi (Kerala), Chandigarh, and Lonavla (Mumbai), along with his support for junior players like Kanchan Rai and other paddlers during the selection test for admission to the Petroleum Sports Promotional Board in Ajmer, Rajasthan, have left a lasting impact on the sporting community of Sikkim.
In addition to being an exceptional player in the years bygone and mentoring young and emerging talents later on, his steadfast commitment to promoting, popularising, and developing table tennis as a sport, while serving as the Vice President of the Sikkim Table Tennis Association and the Sikkim Veteran Table Tennis Association, followed by a brief tenure as President of SVTTA during a time when the state government restricted government employees from joining sports associations, has established a remarkable standard for others to aspire to.
The Sikkim Veterans Table Tennis Association presented a felicitation letter in the gracious presence of Shri Jaslal Pradhan, Olympian and Arjuna Awardee in Boxing, Shri Chewang Zangpo Bhutia, Sr. Vice President, Sikkim Olympic Association, Dr. RB Biswakarma, Additional Director, SYA, Shri Madan K Pradhan, and all the Executive Members of Table Tennis Association on the occasion of the State Championships held at Indoor Hall, Palzor Stadium, Gangtok, on 28th June, 2025.
