Gyalshing District Holds Training on Assessment and Characterisation of Plastic Waste
Gyalshing,June 28:
A training programme- cum-assessment and characterisation of plastic waste as per Central Pollution Control Board(CPCB)mandated methodology was conducted at ADC (Development )office premises under Gyalshing District,today.
The session was organised by the Office of the District Planning Officer, Gyalshing Zilla, in collaboration with the ADC Development, Rural Development Department (RDD), Gyalshing.
The assessment was formally initiated by
Mr Kapil Chettri, Solid Waste Management Coordinator from the Head Office, in the presence of the District Planning Officer, Panchayat members, SBM State Resource Person, Assistant Director, PDAs, and functionaries from the DPO Zilla, ADC Development (RDD), and BAC.
Participants actively helped in assessing and characterising plastic waste.The training highlighted how understanding the types and quantities of plastic waste generated is essential for developing effective waste management strategies, identifying potential for recycling and reuse, and ensuring adherence to the Plastic Waste Management Rules. The training further enabled targeted actions to reduce plastic pollution and supports the promotion of sustainable environmental practices at the grassroots level.
