Significant Growth in MSMEs under Visionary Leadership in Sikkim
Since the formation of the Government under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay, Sikkim has witnessed a remarkable transformation in its entrepreneurial landscape. One of the most notable achievements has been the substantial growth in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. The number of registered MSMEs in the state has grown exponentially from approximately 500 units prior to 2019 to over 16,000 units by 2025.
This impressive upsurge has been made possible through a series of strategic initiatives and policy reforms aimed at strengthening the MSME ecosystem.
A landmark achievement in this regard was the introduction of the first-ever Sikkim MSME Policy in 2022, formulated under the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. This comprehensive policy is designed to support and empower MSMEs at every stage of their growth be it inception, sustenance, or expansion.
The state’s MSME and entrepreneurship ecosystem continues to evolve, driven by the Government’s progressive vision and the proactive efforts of various departments particularly Commerce and Industries Departments. Through innovation, capacity-building, and focused support mechanisms, the Government has laid a strong foundation for inclusive economic development and job creation in Sikkim.
This achievement not only reflects the Government’s commitment to economic self-reliance but also showcases Sikkim’s emergence as a vibrant hub for grassroots entrepreneurship.
