Gangtok, June 27, 2025:
The Skill Development Department (SDD), Government of Sikkim, successfully organized the Prime Minister National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) today at Niyukti Kendra, DCB, Khadi Bhawan, Deorali, Gangtok. The event was held under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) with the objective of providing aspiring youth with meaningful apprenticeship and employment opportunities across multiple sectors.
The event was graced by the presence of senior officials from the Skill Development Department, including:
• Smt. Tashi Cho Cho (IAS), Secretary, SDD
• Smt. Sushma Pradhan, Joint Secretary-cum-CEO, Niyukti Kendra, SDD
• Shri Dharma Das Sharma, Deputy Director, SDD
• Shri Saimon Paul Rai, Deputy Director, SDD
along with staff and officials of Niyukti Kendra.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from 11 reputed establishments representing diverse sectors such as Pharmaceuticals, Hospitality, Packaging, and Electrical industries. The participating companies were:
1. Indchemie Health Specialities Pvt. Ltd.
2. Udaan Hotels & Resorts
3. Delta Corporation Ltd.
4. SBL Global Pvt. Ltd.
5. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
6. Denzong Regency
7. Star Health and Allied Insurance
8. Alkem Health Science
9. V-Guard Industries Ltd III
10. Sun Pharma Ltd. II
11. North East Pharma Pack
A total of 80 candidates participated in the mela, seeking apprenticeship and job opportunities. The outcomes of the event were as follows:
• 15 candidates confirmed for apprenticeship,
• 38 candidates shortlisted for technical rounds, and
• 09 candidates selected as Casual Workers.
The mela served as a vital platform for industry representatives and aspiring youth to interact, engage, and explore future career pathways in various sectors.
The Skill Development Department reaffirms its commitment to empowering the youth of Sikkim through sustained initiatives in skill training, industry collaboration, and employment facilitation.
