DAJUGA Awareness Campaign Held at Maniram Phalidara GPU in Collaboration with Shravan Kumar Award 2025 Programme
Namchi, June 27, 2024:
A special Gram Sabha was held at Maniram Phalidara GPU as part of the Shravan Kumar Award 2025 programme, in collaboration with the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJUGA) IEC Campaign. The event focused on raising awareness about DAJUGA — a flagship initiative dedicated to the holistic development and empowerment of tribal communities.
The programme was attended by Block Development Officer (BDO) Mr. Upendra Rai, Panchayat President Mr. Sonam Tamang, Vice President Mrs. Tika Maya Pradhan, and other Panchayat members. It was organised by the Social Welfare Department, Namchi, with the goal of promoting inclusive development and outreach to underserved tribal households.
The awareness campaign highlighted key components of the DAJUGA scheme, such as access to healthcare, education, housing, livelihood schemes, and infrastructure development, with special emphasis on ensuring saturation of benefits to all eligible families.
BDO Mr. Upendra Rai, in his address, underscored the significance of the DAJUGA programme in narrowing the gap between tribal communities and mainstream development. He also appreciated the integration of the Shravan Kumar Award concept, which honours intergenerational caregiving, within the broader awareness drive.
Panchayat President Mr. Sonam Tamang and Vice President Mrs. Tika Maya Pradhan reiterated their full support in facilitating the scheme's implementation at the village level and encouraged community members to actively engage with government outreach efforts.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from the local community. Residents expressed keen interest in the benefits of the scheme and shared positive feedback on the joint initiative.
The Social Welfare Department, Namchi, aims to continue such collaborative IEC (Information, Education and Communication) efforts across other GPUs to ensure greater awareness, access, and inclusion for tribal communities throughout the district.
