Pakyong, June 26:
As part of a series of tree plantation drives initiated by various cooperative societies in the district, the West Pendam Multipurpose Cooperative Society organised a tree plantation program to commemorate the International Year of Cooperatives and 50 years of statehood .
The event was held as a calendar activity of the cooperative, aligning seamlessly with the visionary initiative of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, “Mero Rukh Mero Santati”, which promotes environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from teachers and students of Government Junior High School, Singlebong, members of the Shanti Yuva Samiti, President and board members of the society, and officials from the Cooperation Department and Aristo Pharmaceuticals.
A total of 150 saplings, generously provided by the Forest Department, were planted in and around the premises of the cooperative society and the school campus.
This initiative was a clear demonstration of cooperative principles and values in action—particularly the spirit of solidarity, concern for community, and sustainable growth.
The West Pendam Multipurpose Cooperative Society, through this initiative, reaffirmed its commitment to community well-being, environmental conservation, and the cooperative mission of collective progress.
