Mangan, June 25:
A comprehensive Training Programme on Assessment and Characterization of Plastic Waste, in line with the methodology developed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), was successfully conducted today at Ringhim Nampatam GPU under Mangan Block.
The training was facilitated by Mr. Kapil Chettri, State Coordinator SBM(G), Sikkim, accompanied by Mr. Kamal Nath Bhattarai, District Coordinator. This vital initiative was primarily aimed at Panchayat Development Assistants (PDAs) from various GPUs across North Sikkim. The core objective was to provide practical knowledge and technical guidance on plastic waste segregation, categorization, and preparation of the Annual Report on Plastic Waste Management.
The programme saw the active participation of local governance leaders, including the Panchayat President, Vice President, and Ward Panchayats of Ringhim Nampatam GPU, underlining the community’s strong commitment to sustainable and responsible waste management practices.
The event was further graced and monitored by the presence of the following dignitaries:

This training programme reflects the ongoing and collective efforts of the Government of Sikkim, along with its affiliated bodies, to ensure efficient plastic waste management and environmental sustainability, aligning with national guidelines and priorities.
An interactive field session was also conducted as part of the training to provide hands-on experience and technical clarity, aiming at enhanced grassroots-level implementation of Plastic Waste Management strategies.
