Gangtok, 23rd June 2025:
The Sikkim Olympic Association, in coordination with its affiliated Sports Associations, commemorated International Olympic Day with great enthusiasm at its office premises in Gangtok. The theme for this year, "Move, Learn, Discover – Together for a Better World", was meaningfully reflected in the day’s activities.
The event was graced by Hon'ble Minister Shri NB Dahal, Political Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Jacob Khaling and Presidents and Executive Members of various affiliated sports associations, and senior sports officials.
Messages from the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang, and the Hon’ble Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs were read out, highlighting the significance of the Olympic Movement and reaffirming the government's commitment to the development of sports and athletes in the state.
A special felicitation ceremony was held to honour athletes and coaches from Sikkim who brought laurels to the state through their outstanding performances at the national level. Their achievements were celebrated with pride and admiration.
The celebration also included a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion and promote the Olympic spirit of unity and celebration.
As part of the day's programme, a series of sporting activities and a blood donation camp were organised, reinforcing the Olympic values of solidarity, friendship, and community service.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge by all present to uphold the values of the Olympic Charter and to continue striving for excellence in sports and fitness across Sikkim.
