Shri N.T. Bhutia, Principal Secretary, Election Commission of India,
undertook an official visit to the State of Sikkim from 21st to 23rd June 2025 to
review election-related matters with the Chief Electoral Officer, Sikkim, and to
interact with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at their respective polling stations.
His visit was a part of the Commission's efforts to ensure the free, fair and
transparent elections in the State of Sikkim.
On 22nd June 2025, Shri N.T Bhutia visited several polling stations in
Gangtok District, accompanied by the Additional District Collector-cum-
Magistrate and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of 32-Sangha Assembly
Constituency (AC).
His visit covered the polling stations under ACs 25-Upper Tadong, 26-Arithang, 27-Gangtok, and 28-Upper Burtuk. He also visited polling accompanied by the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) of 18-West Pendam, covering 18-West Pendam and 22-Namcheybung ACs. BLOs assigned to the respective polling stations were present and engaged in discussions with the Principal Secretary, ECI.
During his visit under 22-Namcheybung AC, it was observed that ramps
need to be constructed at some of the polling stations to ensure accessibility for
voters with disabilities a n d for senior citizens.
The Principal Secretary, ECI also met with the Chief Electoral Officer,
Sikkim along with other officers from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer,
Sikkim, on 23.06.2025 and had a discussion on his observations during his field
visits of the Polling Stations and the engagement of voters on the electoral
process.
