The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Sikkim conducted a meeting with the representatives of political parties at the CEO level on 23rd June 2025. This meeting was held as part of the monthly interaction, in line with directives from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The discussion focused on reviewing issues raised and resolved during the DEO- level political parties meetings held earlier in June 2025. The objective was to ensure smooth coordination and to address pending concerns.
Key issues discussed were related to Pre-Revision Activities for upcoming SSR w.r.t 1.1.2026 as qualifying date particularly the Commission’s directions on rationalization of Polling Stations having more than 1200 electors. In Sikkim a total of 31 Polling Stations have been identified having more than 1200 electors which needs to be rationalized.
Some new Initiatives of the ECI that was implemented in the recent bye- polls of five ACs of Gujarat, Kerela, Punjab and West Bengal like Provision of mobile deposit facility for the electors at all polling stations, Voter turnout on the new ECINET App and Webcasting of 100 % of polling stations ensuring constant vigil of the entire polling were also discussed. Further the matter of appointment of BLAs was also taken up with the Political Parties
