Report on International Olympic Day 2025 Celebrations at KISCE, Reshithang on 23rd June, 2025.
International Olympic Day 2025 was commemorated today at the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE), Reshithang, Gangtok, Sikkim. The event was organized by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs (SYA), Government of Sikkim in collaboration with the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence, Block Administrative Centres (BACs) under SYA from Gangtok and its surrounding areas and also Sikkim Athletics Association.
The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries including Ms. Yangchen D. Tamang (SCS), Secretary, SYA, Sh. Kuber Bhandari, President, Sikkim Olympic Association, Sh. Tseten Lepcha Principal Director l, Finance Department, Dr. R.B. Biswakarma, Additional Director, SYA, Sh. Rajiv Roka, General Secretary, Sikkim Athletics Association, officers from the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, representatives from BACs, coaches and officials from SYA and the High Performance Team of KISCE.
Sh. Bhanu Chapagai, Assistant Director, SYA, hosted the event and Shri Norbu Tshering Bhutia, DD Gangtok welcomed the attendees by emphasizing the significance of the Olympic spirit and the continuous preparation required for Olympic-level competition. In her address, Secretary SYA, Mrs. Yangchen D. Tamang, highlighted the value of sports and the importance of active participation in Olympic events.
The celebration began with a Zumba session, followed by the Chief Minister's One-Mile Run for both men and women. The Demonstrations in archery and boxing were showcased, and a new discipline, race walking was introduced by the Sikkim Athletics Association.
The program concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and a vote of thanks. In the afternoon session, a quiz competition shall be organized by KISCE, Reshithang, in collaboration with the Sikkim AthleticAssociation under the guidance of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs.

2nd – Mr. Gopal Pariyar
3rd – Mr. Sammir Khadka
Race Walking (Women):
1st – Miss Sabina Rai
2nd – Miss Soheene Limboo
3rd – Miss Khushi Pradhan
Race Walking (Men):
1st – Mr. Vinit Singh Patel
2nd – Mr. Jayanta Das
3rd – Mr. Sammir Khadka
