Message from the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur On the occasion of International Olympic Day – 23rd June 2025
My warm greetings to all on the occasion of International Olympic Day, commemorated worldwide today. This celebration serves as a powerful reminder of the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect, ideals that resonate so deeply with our collective spirit.
This year's theme, "Move, learn, discover - Together for a better world," perfectly captures the magic of sports in action. It emboldens us not only to partake in physical activity in the interests of a healthier world but also to adopt a mindset of lifelong learning and exploration that binds us all together in the service of humanity.
As the State rejoices and jubilates with pride in its 50th year of statehood, a journey of “Sunaulo, Samriddha ani Samarth Sikkim”, it brings in a lot of joy to see that the aspirations around the realm of sports is high among our youth. The Olympic movement offers an incredible platform for our young athletes to develop their talents, work towards excellence and strive for developed character.
I commend the Sikkim Olympic Association for their dedicated efforts in organising various activities, including quizzes, morning assembly speeches, walkathons, and the HCM one-mile run, to mark this significant day. These initiatives are crucial in promoting sports and Olympic values across our state.
May we all be motivated by the Olympic spirit to foster a culture of physical fitness and excellence, in a bright light of unity and determination. Let us keep encouraging and helping our athletes to reach out for the stars and make our beloved Sikkim and our nation proud.
