Gyalshing,June 20:Inspired by the ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp’ initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Govt Hee-Yangthang Senior Secondary School has initiated a weeklong celebration of Indian Language, starting today.
With a special focus on Sanskrit, the school aims to familiarize students from classes 1 to 12 with India’s linguistic heritage, modes of expression, and cultural richness. The event was formally inaugurated by the school’s Principal, Mr Narayan Basnet, who, during the opening session, emphasised that language plays a vital role in strengthening a nation’s culture, identity, and unity.
Throughout the week, Mr Loknath Neupane, an experienced teacher of the school, will serve as the resource person to guide students in learning Sanskrit.
Students will be introduced to basic Sanskrit greetings, alphabets, numerals, patriotic slogans, songs, traditional attire, cuisine, and cultural practices — all aimed at showcasing the beauty of multilingualism.
This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises the importance of mother tongue-based education. The school’s effort to translate this vision into practice is highly commendable.
The week long event will conclude with students' presentations of- quizzes, speech sessions, certificate distribution, and motivational talks.
