Gangtok, June 20, 2025 : Taking in the spirit of “International Yoga Day” which falls on the 21st of June, the Skill Development Department organized a yoga session followed by a cleanliness drive and a plantation drive in the premises of the Skill Development Department, Sokaythang, Gangtok on 19th June 2025.
The event began with an invigorating yoga session at 8 am in the conference hall of the department. It was led by Shri Nawraj Lamsal, Assistant Director, Skill Development Department who also happens to be a certified yoga instructor.
The event saw the inspiring participation of Ms. Tashi Cho Cho, Secretary, Skill Development Department, all officers of the department and the interested officials. It was also suggested that a weekly yoga session would be organized after office hours if there were interested participants.
The yoga session was followed by a massive cleanliness drive and plantation headed by the Secretary, Skill Development Department. The event saw huge participation from all the officials of the Skill Development Department. The plantation drive not only saw the planting of ornamental plants but also fruit saplings like papaya and avocado.
Further, with a view to preserve and promote our cultural heritage and to showcase our vibrant diversity, all the officers and staff began wearing their traditional attire from 20th June 2025. This trend would be continued once a week every Friday and the directions would also be complied at the various Government Industrial Training Institutes in the districts.
