Kailash Mansarovar Yatra resumes after six years: First party was sent by Hon'ble Governor from Nathula Darre of Sikkim
The holy Kailash Mansarovar Yatra resumes through Sikkim after a six-year gap witnessed a glorious moment today, when the group of pilgrims traveling on 20 June 2025 by shown the green flag from Nathula by Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim Mr. Om Prakash Mathur The formally departed.
Hon'ble Governor interacted with pilgrims before departing from Nathula Darre and wished the good health of the passengers.
Departing the pilgrims, the Hon'ble Governor describes the resumption of this historic route as a symbol of international friendship and restoration of Indian spiritual traditions that reflect the faith of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain communities. Expressed gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for resuming the journey on this occasion. Rakha telling that he sent a group of pilgrims through the path of Sikkim is a proud thing for the state itself,
"It is a proud moment for the state of Sikkim that this historical and spiritual journey is moving forward through the holy land of the state. Honorable Governor.
During this time, he has also thanked Sikkim government, Indian Tibet border police, Indian army for their cooperation.
This first group of pilgrimage includes 33 pilgrims, two escort and 1 doctor who completed the optimization process in two phases for higher Himalayan conditions by reaching Sikkim after compulsory medical tests — first on the 18th mile, then in Sherathang, where they found balance between nature.
The pilgrims departing from Nathula Dare were sent by the Hon'ble Governor showing green flag, during this time Hon'ble Ministers of Sikkim Government, Hon'ble MLA, India Tibet border police and Indian Army officers, higher officials of Sikkim Government were also present. Pilgrims were arranged to be welcomed by Chinese officials across the border, from which they will continue their spiritual journey towards Kailash Mount and Mansarovar Lake.
The complete arrangement of this trip is operated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of India, Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation and India-Tibet Border Police to enable pilgrims to have a seamless and safe experience.
On this historic occasion Hon'ble Vice President Mrs. Rajkumari Thapa, Tourism Minister Mr. T. Bhutia, Hon'ble Minister of Road and Pool Department Mr. N. B. Dahal, Hon'ble Area MLA Mrs. Pamin Lepcha, Poet Tingda Area MLA T Bhutia, Manebong-Dentam area MLA and Advisor to Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Mr. Sudesh Kumar Subba and Additional Chief Secretary of Tourism Department Mr. C. S. May Rao be present.
