The Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Tourism Department, Shri C. S. Rao,
paid a courtesy call on to the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Shri Rao extended a formal invitation to the Hon’ble Governor to grace the flag-off ceremony of the first batch of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2025, scheduled to be held on June 20, 2025, at Nathula.
The Hon’ble Governor graciously accepted the invitation and inquired about the current status of helicopter and air services in the state. He also discussed the potential for enhancing air connectivity in the region.
Highlighting the immense potential of Sikkim’s tourism sector, the Hon’ble Governor emphasized the importance of promoting the state’s rich biodiversity, cultural heritage, and natural beauty at both national and international levels.
Furthermore, he directed the ACS to develop an integrated framework to strengthen the tourism sector in coordination with the Forest, Agriculture, and Culture Departments.
In response, the ACS assured the Hon’ble Governor that he would collaborate closely with the concerned departments to elevate the tourism industry to greater heights.
