Yoga Samavesh: A Special Yoga Session for Senior Citizens
Namchi, 18 June:
As part of the countdown to International Yoga Day (IYD) 2025, the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), under the Health and Family Welfare Department, Ayush Department District Hospital Namchi , organized a special yoga session dedicated to senior citizens. The initiative reflects this year’s theme, “One Earth, One Health,” and aims to promote holistic wellness among the elderly.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens of the Choutara SGREWA organization and nearby areas. The program was designed to enhance both physical and mental well-being among the elderly population.
A customized yoga session, tailored to the specific needs of senior citizens, was conducted by yoga instructor Mrs. Pushpa Chettri. The session included light stretches, breathing techniques, and mindfulness exercises, all of which were well-received by the participants.
In addition to the yoga session, the event featured a cleanliness drive and a health check-up program. General health checkup were conducted by the medical team, including Dr. Neelima Thatal and Dr. Kavita Thapa from AYUSH Dept., Namchi.
Free distribution of homeopathic medicines ,Kada, Chyawanprash, pain relief oils, and ointments and healthy refreshment was also made available for the participants.
The initiative was widely appreciated by the attendees. Their enthusiastic participation made the program truly commendable and praiseworthy.
