A demonstration-cum-distribution program aimed at mitigating Human-Wildlife Conflict (HWC) was held at Sidkeong Tulku Conference Hall, Forest Secretariat, Deorali on June 12, 2025.
The event was organized by the Wildlife Circle of the Forest and Environment Department and witnessed participation from key officials and their subordinates from Wildlife Sector dealing with Human- Wildlife Conflicts.
Conservator of Forest (Wildlife), Shri Udai Gurung, IFS, delivered the keynote address. He emphasized the importance of integrating modern technology in addressing human-wildlife conflict and highlighted the need for community engagement. “Raising awareness among villagers and building the capacity of frontline staff through regular training is crucial,” he stated.
A highlight of the event was the presentation and demonstration of human-wildlife conflict mitigation equipment by Mr. Akash from Kyari. Participants were provided with hands-on training, enabling them to effectively use the tools in the field.
The program concluded with the official distribution of the equipment to representatives from each wildlife division, marking a significant step forward in enhancing preparedness and response to HWC challenges .
